أَلَم تَرَ إِلَى الَّذينَ أوتوا نَصيبًا مِنَ الكِتابِ يَشتَرونَ الضَّلالَةَ وَيُريدونَ أَن تَضِلُّوا السَّبيلَ

Haven’t you seen those who were given a portion of the Scripture, who purchase error and want you to lose the way?

وَاللَّهُ أَعلَمُ بِأَعدائِكُم ۚ وَكَفىٰ بِاللَّهِ وَلِيًّا وَكَفىٰ بِاللَّهِ نَصيرًا

But God is better aware of your enemies, and God is a sufficient protector, and God is a sufficient helper.

مِنَ الَّذينَ هادوا يُحَرِّفونَ الكَلِمَ عَن مَواضِعِهِ وَيَقولونَ سَمِعنا وَعَصَينا وَاسمَع غَيرَ مُسمَعٍ وَراعِنا لَيًّا بِأَلسِنَتِهِم وَطَعنًا فِي الدّينِ ۚ وَلَو أَنَّهُم قالوا سَمِعنا وَأَطَعنا وَاسمَع وَانظُرنا لَكانَ خَيرًا لَهُم وَأَقوَمَ وَلـٰكِن لَعَنَهُمُ اللَّهُ بِكُفرِهِم فَلا يُؤمِنونَ إِلّا قَليلًا

Among those who are Jewish, some distort words out of their contexts and say, “We hear and disobey,” and “Hear, but don’t listen,” and “Ra’ina,” twisting their tongues and defaming the religion. But if they had said, “We hear and we obey,” and “Listen,” and “Unzurna,” it would’ve been better for them and more upright. But God has cursed them for their disbelief, so they believe not, except for a few.

يا أَيُّهَا الَّذينَ أوتُوا الكِتابَ آمِنوا بِما نَزَّلنا مُصَدِّقًا لِما مَعَكُم مِن قَبلِ أَن نَطمِسَ وُجوهًا فَنَرُدَّها عَلىٰ أَدبارِها أَو نَلعَنَهُم كَما لَعَنّا أَصحابَ السَّبتِ ۚ وَكانَ أَمرُ اللَّهِ مَفعولًا

O you who were given the Scripture, believe in what We’ve revealed, confirming what’s already with you, before We obliterate faces and turn them backward or curse them as We cursed the Sabbath-breakers. God’s command is always executed.

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يَغفِرُ أَن يُشرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغفِرُ ما دونَ ذٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشاءُ ۚ وَمَن يُشرِك بِاللَّهِ فَقَدِ افتَرىٰ إِثمًا عَظيمًا

God doesn’t forgive the association with Him, but He forgives anything less than that to whom He wills. Whoever associates partners with God has devised a grave sin.

انظُر كَيفَ يَفتَرونَ عَلَى اللَّهِ الكَذِبَ ۖ وَكَفىٰ بِهِ إِثمًا مُبينًا

See how they invent lies against God. That in itself is a clear sin.

أَلَم تَرَ إِلَى الَّذينَ أوتوا نَصيبًا مِنَ الكِتابِ يُؤمِنونَ بِالجِبتِ وَالطّاغوتِ وَيَقولونَ لِلَّذينَ كَفَروا هـٰؤُلاءِ أَهدىٰ مِنَ الَّذينَ آمَنوا سَبيلًا

Did you notice those who were given a portion of the Scripture? They believe in superstition and oppressive powers, even saying to the disbelievers, “These are better guided on the path than the believers.”

أُولـٰئِكَ الَّذينَ لَعَنَهُمُ اللَّهُ ۖ وَمَن يَلعَنِ اللَّهُ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُ نَصيرًا

These are the ones whom God has cursed. Whomever God curses—you won’t find a helper for him.

أَم لَهُم نَصيبٌ مِنَ المُلكِ فَإِذًا لا يُؤتونَ النّاسَ نَقيرًا

Do they own a portion of the sovereignty? If so, they wouldn’t give others even a speck.

أَم يَحسُدونَ النّاسَ عَلىٰ ما آتاهُمُ اللَّهُ مِن فَضلِهِ ۖ فَقَد آتَينا آلَ إِبراهيمَ الكِتابَ وَالحِكمَةَ وَآتَيناهُم مُلكًا عَظيمًا

Or do they envy people for what God has granted them from His bounty? We gave the family of Abraham the Scripture, wisdom, and a grand kingdom.
