بِسمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحمـٰنِ الرَّحيمِ القارِعَةُ
The Shocker.
مَا القارِعَةُ
What is the Shocker?
وَما أَدراكَ مَا القارِعَةُ
And what will make you understand what the Shocker is?
يَومَ يَكونُ النّاسُ كَالفَراشِ المَبثوثِ
On that day, the people will be like scattered moths.
وَتَكونُ الجِبالُ كَالعِهنِ المَنفوشِ
And the mountains will resemble carded wool.
فَأَمّا مَن ثَقُلَت مَوازينُهُ
As for him whose scales are heavy.
فَهُوَ في عيشَةٍ راضِيَةٍ
He will experience a life of contentment.
وَأَمّا مَن خَفَّت مَوازينُهُ
But as for he whose scales are light.
فَأُمُّهُ هاوِيَةٌ
His mother will be an Abyss.
وَما أَدراكَ ما هِيَه
And what could explain to you what that is?
نارٌ حامِيَةٌ
An intensely hot fire.
